This page is dedicated to bugs found in Fallout:
Quest bugs
- During the quest to fix the Necropolis water pump, there is a chance that the pump may fail to be repaired. This is regardless of the player's Repair skill or whether or not the Junk item is in their inventory.
- During the quest to kill Razor, it may be impossible to obtain the requisite holodisk which proves to Jon Zimmerman that the Blades are innocent.
- Killing Gizmo may make Junktown hate the Vault Dweller, regardless of whether or not they have activated the requisite quest to help Killian Darkwater.
- Killing Sherry during the Bust The Skulz Gang quest can cause all the Guards in the area to become immediately hostile to the player.
- Sometimes the quest to rescue the Initiate from the Hub may not activated in the player's Pipboy status menu.
Companion bugs
- In places like The Glow, it is possible for companions to get stuck inside of the elevators until the player enters a new floor.
- Sometimes companions will not move from the area that they spawned. This can frequently happen to Dogmeat, specifically. To fix this issue just interact with the companion or enter a new map.
- Most of the companions in Fallout that can follow the player character will stay at a specific spot, if the player tells them to leave their company and they do not respawn in any way. This means that if the player tells them to leave their company in maps such as "Wasteland," "City," "Mountain" or "Desert" then they will lose those companions forever.
Visual bugs
- There are a lot of instances of weapons in the game which have a different sprite when held by a character, then they do when in the player's inventory.
- There are a lot of instances of armor in the game which have a different sprite when equipped by a character, then they do when in the player's inventory.
- All of the companions in the game use the same character sprite as an enemy that the player can fight. This makes it extremely confusing to fight actual enemies that are among them, without using the Friendly Foe perk.
Regular bugs
- It is possible at times for the text box at the bottom of the screen to not display whether or not you have succeeded a Pickpocket skill check on certain NPCs, like companions for example.
- Sometimes combat mode will remain activate, even though there are no longer hostile enemies in the area. This can be fixed by manually toggling Combat.
- Laptop touchpads with zoom functions may cause the game's mouse controls to crash
- Fixable by shutting down the program and booting it back up.
