Well, I uh... I mean, I... I supervise and take care of stuff. I'm the owner's son after all. I'm going to inherit this place when my dad kicks off.

Davin is Grisham's son in Modoc in Fallout 2, and a potential party member. The player can have the Chosen One marry Davin regardless of gender.

Background

A handsome young man in his twenties,[2] Grisham's only[3] son looks very much like his father[2] (though not to the demented Cornelius),[4] and prepares himself to inherit the business once his father "kicks off" in his own terms. Until then, he's the slaughterhouse supervisor,[5] well known to the others.[6]

He gets on well with his father, but is aware that Grisham likes to hit two birds with one stone and advises anyone getting into business with him to look out for any unforeseen elements of his deals.[7] He is no layabout either: Grisham taught him how to skin brahmin and had him prepare leather, making him skilled with a knife, and on one occasion he even had to put down one with a crowbar for his dad. He doesn't like firearms: The one time his dad tried to teach him to shoot straight, he got scared and almost shot his dad down.[8]

Davin is rumored around town to engage in bestiality with the brahmin. Davin admits to going to the barn at night, but only to make sure it's locked up, what with all the wild animals around.[9]

Divorce

The only way to remove Davin from the party is to permanently divorce him, which can occur in three ways:

  1. Death: If Davin dies, he'll be considered divorced. Death can occur in many ways, from combat, through traps, to removing his brain at the Sierra Army Depot.
  2. Slavery: Davin can be sold to the following characters:
    1. Metzger (The Den) will pay ~$900 (determined by Barter; even with official patches the script is bugged and the amount of money is increased the lower the player character's skill is).
    2. Big Jesus (New Reno) will pay $200 ($400 with a Barter check, can only be tried once), if the player talked to Little Jesus about slavery or asks Big Jesus about his health or Richard Wright, and say they have more questions.
    3. Barkus (Vault City) will pay $200 ($400 with a successful Barter check), due to him looking "relatively free from Outworlder contamination."[10]
  3. Divorce: Father Tully in New Reno can peacefully divorce the player from Davin.

Once out of the party, Davin is considered separated. Returning to Modoc and telling Grisham what happened will kill the butcher on the spot, through a heart attack.

Although it is a minor feature of the game with very limited use, the ability to pimp the Chosen One's spouse was used as a selling point on the game's box: "Fall in love, get married, and then pimp your spouse for a little extra chump-change. Hey, it's a dark and dangerous world."
