Ellen likes to get drunk often, but this causes her not to pay attention to what her son Butch is up to. Ellen and Butch live together in one of the smallest family apartments. Butch's father is a mystery to the other residents of Vault 101.[Non-game 1]
Escape!: Ellen will come under attack by radroaches, leading Butch to appeal to the Lone Wanderer to save her.
Trouble on the Homefront: If she was saved in Escape!, she is revealed to be a loyalist to the overseer, and despite the Lone Wanderer saving her life, she blames the entire incident on James.
Effects of player's actions
Should she be saved from the radroaches, Butch will declare that the Lone Wanderer is his best friend and he will give them his Tunnel Snake outfit, while Ellen asks if they would like a drink. This also gives the Lone Wanderer some good Karma.
If the Lone Wanderer simply allows Ellen to be mauled by the radroaches, Butch will despise them and attempt to lead Vault 101 security in the right direction to capturing them.
There are a number of vodka bottles scattered around her apartment, as well as two bottles found on her person if she is killed during Escape!
The above note, combined with the Lone Wanderer's rhetorical question of if Butch's mom "Drank up all the ration coupons again?" indicates Ellen is an alcoholic.
Her family's last name, DeLoria, is a Native American surname associated with the Dakota people, though it is commonly spelled Deloria, with the L decapitalized. The change to a capitalized DeLoria evokes surnames beginning with "De" that are common in Romance languages.
