fallout

The food paste is a consumable item in Fallout 4.

Background

Formulated and produced by the Vault-Tec Corporation in conjunction with the United States government, this food substitute was put through a trial run in the Suffolk County Charter School as an experiment to help fund the school through a program called the Nutritional Alternative Paste Program (NAPP). The paste was intended to provide sufficient vitamins, minerals, and macronutrients for a growing body and have a shelf life of over 100 years.[Non-game 1][Non-game 2] Furthermore, it allegedly tastes delicious, but is apparently addictive and causes raiders to display even more extreme aggression after extensive consumption.[1] Long term consumption would also give the complexion of the consumer a pinkish hue.[2]

Characteristics

Food paste appears as a cafeteria tray with a blob of pink paste on it. Terminal entries at Suffolk County Charter School suggest that the paste is completely devoid of flavor (though the intervention note stated that the paste "tastes great"), turns skin pink with regular consumption, and has psychological effects such as irritability.

The area that this consumable is found in has a unique population of pink feral ghouls, which supports the observation of the paste turning the skin pink.

The student base of this school consisted mostly of lower-income and disadvantaged students. These children were lucky enough to be chosen for trials of a new food substitute paste developed by Vault-Tec in conjunction with the U.S. government. The paste was intended to provide all necessary nutrition and have a shelf life of over 100 years. Despite some minor side effects, the paste is both nutritious and delicious. Why not try some yourself? You'll be in the pink!"

Developed by Vault-Tec in conjunction with the Federal Government, this supplied participating schools with a supply of food paste, fortified with vitamins, minerals and all the nutrients a growing body needs, and which would remain unspoiled for over a century."
