Even the normally phlegmatic Metternich is beginning to show signs of cracking under the strain.Lorenzo Cabot's journal

Metternich was an archaeologist who lived in the 19th century.

Background

Metternich was a colleague of Lorenzo Cabot who accompanied him on his expedition into the Rub' al Khali desert in 1894, joining him in Lisbon. Metternich used an electrical sensing apparatus of his invention to help lead the team to their destination, the lost city of Ubar. Lorenzo described Metternich as a "normally phlegmatic" character who was nonetheless disturbed by the strange occurrences and discoveries on their expedition.

Following a sandstorm which reburied their excavation and reports of worsening weather, Metternich suggested leaving and coming back to the site in the winter, which Lorenzo refused. Metternich was also present when the team discovered the tomb of a non-human entity in the excavation site, and was left in shock. On May 14, when Lorenzo began wearing the crown he found in the tomb and ordered to have the site reburied, Metternich was surprised and argued with him to no avail.[1]

Appearances

Metternich is mentioned only in Fallout 4.
