The false Caesar, as he is referred to by the Lacerta Legate,[1] is the leader of a splinter group of Caesar's Legion in the Mojave Wasteland in 2296. He appears briefly in the Fallout TV series.

Background

After the death of the original Caesar (Edward Sallow) sometime between 2281 and 2296, the Legion fractured into two factions amidst a civil war, fighting over who would become the heir to the vacant throne. Two men laid claim to the mantle of Caesar, considering one another to be a "false" Caesar and ordering their respective factions of legionaries to prevent their rivals from obtaining what they believe is the written will of Edward Sallow that conclusively names his successor. By 2296, both groups remained at a stalemate, even though their camps are located just opposite one another.[2]

The Profligate

This Caesar is referred to as the "false Caesar" by the Lacerta Legate, who serves another Caesar, in conversation with Lucy MacLean. She never interacts with the "false Caesar" and his side of the civil war. Both Caesars are later observed from afar by the Ghoul seated upon their respective thrones, which he takes as a sign to go and recruit help from the NCR.[2]

The Strip

Following the outbreak of hostilities between the two camps after the Ghoul's sabotage, it is never directly shown what happened to this false Caesar. However, it is clear that he no longer contests power when the Lacerta Legate ascends to the mantle of Caesar, whether because of his death, fleeing, surrender, or some other reason.[3]

Appearances

The false Caesar appears only in the Fallout TV series.

Behind the scenes

In contrast to Kaleti Williams' Caesar who has separate scenes with Lucy and the Ghoul, this "false" Caesar is only seen briefly from afar during "The Profligate" and appears to have been portrayed by an uncredited extra.
