Background
James was employed by Starlight Theaters as a ticket booth attendant at their drive-in cinema in southeastern Ohio.[1]

Behind the scenes
- In the game's files, the corpses found at the Starlight Drive-in all have unique editor IDs containing initials that correspond with former employees of the Starlight Drive-in, although James is not among them and his fate is unaddressed.

- The cut versions of the Starlight Drive-in's terminal entries, originally present on the Burning Springs Public Test Server before being rewritten, would have given extra background to the location's staff, including James. According to these cut entries, James had been employed with Starlight since 2070, and his responsibilities as an attendant were listed in full. He had the nickname "Jim," and worked with security guard Richard Thompson if any issues arose at the gate.
